Haircare routines! I spend most of my time on Youtube looking at everyone's haircare routing. As I continue to watch them, I notice they get longer and longer and longer. Ladies, your haircare routine doesn't have to be long. Some of the stuff you think is good for your hair may not actually be good so do your research but let your hair breathe. Heat protectant and leave-in conditioner in always a must but putting in multiple oils and doing multiple masks is over kill. Like Brad Mondo says, you don't have to go crazy on your hair. Keep it simple. A true product will do the work you are wanting help with.

Hussein Chalayan

Designer of the week is Hussein Chalayan. Born in Nicosia, Chalayan graduated from the Turk Maarif Koleji school in his hometown. Around this time, there was struggles between Greek and Turkish authorities. After attending Highgate School, Chalayan studied for a National Diploma in fashion and clothing at Warwickshire School of Arts to finally studying Fashion Design at central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. One of his final tasks was to create a graduate collection. Chalayan created a collection that he buried in his backyard to digging it back up before the show. This had such a  powerful meaning in reference to life, death and urban decay. 

This caught the attention of Browns boutique in London who borrowed the collection to feature in their window display. Chalayan's established his brand in 1994 called Cartesia Ltd. Chalayan's fashion shows are characterized by minimal sets and a mood of suspense. The shows would incorporate elements of contemporary interiors, urban architecture and geometric structures. Each piece that he creates tells a story across the body like an art piece on a blank canvas. Not only tell the story but his use of architectural proportions were used to amplify their interplay with their surroundings. A cultural territory at times. His inspirations have caught the eye of many so wining awards and working along side Bjork has been an added bonus to Chalayans journey. Over the years, Chalayan has made sure that each piece has a meaning which is what I admire the most. He's true to himself while staying relevant.  

Since Chalayan designs clothes for many occasions and private properties, anyone can carry these items that define their identities and cultures with them during their planned and or unwanted journey's. Despite all the attention and recognition for his work, Chalayan still struggled with sponsorships and funding that forced him into voluntary liquidation. The collaborations he did only lasted till 2001 when he decided to not renew the contract. This was the year he staged his comeback and turned everything around. British Designer of the Year in 1999 and 2000, Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2006, International recognition followed by Design Star Honoree by The Fashion Group International at their annual Night of Stars Gala in 2007. Chalayan journey is worth being a part of. By 2019, Chalayan became a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Berlin at fashion department with specialization on sustainability.

Fab Five Looks For The Week

Date night! Dress your best when going on a date. Five friends of mine actually tested this out. Two of them dressed casual, two dressed up and one did a mixture of both. It was actually interesting to hear what happened. All of the guys dressed casual which I can assume why they did. The two friends that dressed up, felt very confident and felt like they were in control. The two friends that didn't dress up said they felt comfortable. My last friend said she didn't care, just jumped right in on the date and tried to get the guy to goof off with her. Not saying how you dress controls the night but it does control how you feel and present yourself which therefore can change how the night is going. You should always take a date night as an opportunity to not only meet people but to network.

Waves! Soft touchable heartless waves. There are so many new ways to achieving the look. One of my favorites is what Abby Yung did when she testing out 6 different ways and showed what the curls look like. Anyone that has lived with straight hair knows how hard it is to keep curls. You can actually in other words teach your hair to keep a curl. If you curl your hair for a long time frame, your hair will start curling naturally. You can also buy products that can help bring back your wave pattern and or to see if you even have a way pattern. At the start, you will see not a very big difference but a lot of us are unaware of what we actually have. We could actually have a good wave but we have taught our hair to be straight. The cheapest route and the less damaging route would be your heartless waves. No product and no heat. Just your hair naturally drying the way you want. Definitely worth a try!
